Hong Kong based producer, DJ and co-founder for Spin Sum, Willer, heads to Wonderfruit armed with his debut EP ‘Garden of Life’.
Released back in September, ‘Garden of Life’ comes loaded with three original singles and a package of remixes from French globetrotter Hallex M and Greek producer Blaq Theory.
The title track ‘Garden of Life’ leads the EP with deep, afro-tech aesthetics: Willer’s affinity for percussion and years spent as a drummer is evident in the effortlessly warm and effective groove. The melodic synth that comes into play after the main breakdown elevates the track from its soulful aura to a dance floor destroyer.
Hallex M’s remix of ‘Garden of Life’ takes the original straight into early-peak time territory with a chunky afro-laced groove. Meanwhile, Blaq Theory’s rendition edges ‘Garden of Life’ for deeper and dubbier grazing.
Still keeping an emphasis on drum work, Willer steers in a heavy melodic direction with ‘Fields’, with harmonic synths crescendoing into euphoria. On ‘Everything Is In Colour’, Willer showcases his more subdued side in the studio and delivers a delicate deep groove with a hint of Mediterranean flair.
Since it’s release, the EP has garnered heavyweight support from around the world including plays from Paco Osuna, John Digweed, Joris Voorn, Chris Lake, Nic Fanciulli, Marco Faraone, Auntie Flo and Borgore.
Willer is co-founder and creative mind behind travelling event brand Spin Sum, who recently showcased their first international event at London club fabric. They've previously showcased a slew of artists in Hong Kong and Europe including Damian Lazarus, Rampa, Claptone, &ME, Viken Arman, Timboletti, Yokoo, Floyd Lavine, Hyenah, Sebo K, Marco Resmann, Kenny Glasgow, Oxia, Ryan Crosson, Parralels & Dee Montero.
