Vintage Minimoog to be auctioned off in fundraiser for Bob Moog Foundation
The decades-old Model D synth is signed by legendary musician Todd Rundgren
A vintage Minimoog is being auctioned off as part of a fundraiser for The Bob Moog Memorial Foundation.
The decades-old Model D synthesizer – which was originally manufactured in Moog Music’s New York factory in Williamsville between 1970 and 1981 – is being sold at auction later this month.
The restored synth is marked as serial number 4605, and is signed by legendary musician Todd Rundgren, whose early synthesizer works inspired generations of artists.
The fundraising raffle begins on Monday, September 8, at 7:AM EST, and ends at 11:59PM on Monday, September 29. Tickets are marked at $25 each, or 12 for $200, and 35 for $500.

All proceeds from raffle tickets will be donated to the Bob Moog Foundation, a non-profit organisation created after the death of Moog’s famed founder in 2005, helping to build an educational programme through Dr. Bob’s SoundSchool.
According to a press release, the school has so far educated “over 35,000 elementary school students through the science of sound”.
The raffle will also support the Moogseum in North Carolina, which first opened in 2019 as an educational hub, but has suffered “long-term financial impact” following last year’s Hurricane Helene.

“The Moog modular synthesizer and the Minimoog helped define my sound,” says Todd Rundgren, who has also inscribed the machine with the words ‘Moog = Synthesizer’.
“I am thrilled to have signed this fully restored vintage Minimoog for the Bob Moog Foundation in support of their educational efforts, including Dr. Bob’s SoundSchool, which inspires thousands of elementary school students through sound every year.”
The raffle will be open internationally. Grab your tickets here.
