Vietnam-based producers Tomes & Bipolar Bear drop vibrant EP via EEZEE
‘EEZEE 11’ is a four-tracker inspired by world disco & features an Afrobeat remix by acid master Akio Nagase
EEZEE, a Tokyo-based label managed by the renowned DJ SUNGA and a subsidiary of the cult Japanese label Coreheadz, proudly presents its latest release, EEZEE011— a collaborative effort from two Vietnam-based producers, Tomes and Bipolar Bear.
The drop offers four cosmic-kissed tracks inspired by world disco, meticulously crafted for late-night adventures on discerning dancefloors.
Tomes, an Australian producer living in Vietnam for a decade, blends hip hop, techno, dub, and drum'n'bass, becoming a cornerstone of the local music scene.
Since moving to Da Nang in 2019, Romanian producer Bipolar Bear has co-founded Saga Music Bar and the Badaboom events collective, tirelessly advocating for the underground hip-hop and bass scene.
Both producers weave a tapestry of unexpected sonic journeys, drawing upon dusty samples from Korea, Mali, and Brazil. Their sound is both cosmically expansive and grounded by rough edges and gritty analogue textures, resulting in a mesmerising blend of rhythms and beats that captivate and transport listeners.

Opening track ‘Acid Sahara’ is just that. Its hypnotic guitar melody kicks off the track, followed by a bass drum that sets the foundation for a funky bass groove before a sizzling top line of trumpets and vocals add into the mind-altering mix. Towards the end, we’re greeted by those squelching acid synths we all know and love.
Akio Nagase’s Afrobeat remix adds a percussive touch to the track, making it just a bit more upbeat and lively thanks to its extra dose of low-end magic.
