TYP!CAL RECORDS is a new independent analogue-specialty label based in Tokyo

TYP!CAL RECORDS is not your typical record label. The label specializes in analogue releases: they’ve just launched in January with the goal of curating indie-pop music from around the world and delivering it in the warm form of a vinyl record.

The label operates under sound production company LADER, and is run by Gikyo Nakamura (中村義響), who’s worked previously at one of Japan’s largest record stores, Jet Set Records. LADER boasts credits for audio work with companies in various industries, including Asahi Kasei, Shiseido, Honda Motor, Fuji Heavy Industries, Nissan Motor, Nike Japan, Nikon and more. Nakamura is well-versed on alternative pop, bedroom pop and alternative RnB artists around the globe, so we can expect the label to offer us a refreshing and diverse range of music.

So far, they’ve got releases from five artists listed on their Bandcamp: Hush Moss, Lewis OfMan, Brigt, Sound’s Deli and R.A.E. Both ‘Clear’ by Hush Moss and ‘Plein de Bisous’ by Lewis OfMan feat. Milena Leblanc are limited edition 7” records that were released on January 29. The other three records are available to pre-order for release in late February/March. Stay tuned, as we will be, too.
