Mopreme Shakur has claimed that the murder of his brother, Tupac Shakur, was unsolved for decades because of his race.

In a new interview with Sky News, Mopreme explained: "Pac was a young black male, and we have challenges in this country when it comes to equal justice.”

"That's just the nature of the beast,” he said. “It's just the nature of the beast in America. I'm realistic about that."

Last week, a man was arrested in connection with the murder of Tupac, 27 years after his death in 1996 where he was shot four times in a drive-by shooting and killed.

Las Vegas police made the arrest of a man named Duane “Keefe D” Davis on the morning of Friday, September 29, a man who has long been a person of interest in the murder case.

“I was shocked, surprised, and taken aback because it's been so long,” said Tupac’s brother, Mopreme, after Davis’ arrest. "We haven't heard anything in 27 years. My daughter is 27 years old, so any accountability is good at this point."

He continued: "It would be a shame after all this time for them not to do this properly, meaning that they look at all the connections to it and get the total justice that we want.”

"There's doubt in their sincerity,” he told Sky News. “How far are they going to go? Are they going to go all the way and get all the accomplices?"

Davis, 60, is accused of being the “shot caller” during the murder and was claimed to have handled the gun used to kill Tupac Shakur. He appeared in front of a Las Vegas court for the first time on Wednesday, October 4.
