MUTEK Japan has announced the 11th edition of MUTEK.JP, running for four days from November 20–23, 2026 at MoN Takanawa: The Museum of Narratives, a new cultural hub inside TAKANAWA GATEWAY CITY in Tokyo.

The festival is co-presented with East Japan Railway Company (JR East), marking a new phase for the event, and a fourth day has been added to the programme as a bonus for Blind Passport buyers.

Now in its second decade, MUTEK.JP continues to explore audiovisual expression at the intersection of digital creativity, contemporary art and technology, with this year's edition built around the idea of a “new cycle”.

Headlining the programme is a 3D/AV live set from UK artist Max Cooper showcasing his new album, an experimental AV performance from Japanese band mouse on the keys marking their 20th anniversary, a new piece from audiovisual pioneer Ryoichi Kurokawa, Chilling Bambino (the project from Polish musician Hania Rani), a live dance installation from Daito Manabe x ELEVENPLAY, and Film Scores for No One, a new project from Canadian musician Patrick Watson.

Also on the bill are Robert Lippok & Lucas Gutierrez presenting a live AV back-to-back set, Grand River performing the Japan premiere of her latest work, NEUROSCAN (Canblaster + Neurotypique) making their Japan debut, and tamanaramen, a next-generation Japanese AV unit, among others still to be announced.

On the festival's final day, Monday, November 23 (the date of Niiname-sai, Japan's ancient harvest festival), a special collaborative audiovisual programme celebrating the occasion will be presented, with further details to follow.

Daytime programming across the festival includes the MUTEK.JP Pro Conference, bringing together artists, researchers and technologists for talks and workshops, alongside ETERNAL Art Space, a concurrent exhibition of digital and media art.

Further details on the conference, exhibition and public programmes will be announced in mid-October 2026.
