​Tokyo is throwing a new festival called インフラ INFRA in August

If you’re planning a trip to Japan this summer, you’ll be delighted to know that there is am ambitious week-long music and art festival unfolding with its motif built upon the digital age.

The event is called the インフラ INFRA Festival, with the name being a play on the abbreviated form of ‘infrastructure’, and is a coalition between Berlin-based music platform 3hd Festival and Japanese-run online EBM(T).

The entire program will run from August 19th to August 26th in various museums, galleries, clubs, and online, and will see panels, workshops, music events, installations and more.

The theme has been aptly titled the ‘Inside the Outside World’ and is to examine the infrastructures that provide an ecosystem where artists, musicians and performers locate and navigate their work and how deramtoically they’ve changed in the modern world.

The musical programming centers mostly around Japanese artists but there are some international acts worked into the billing with the same applying to visual artists. See a shortlist of the artists involved below or head to the website for the full billing.
