Tiga confesses it's impossible to play a great set every time
The heartfelt post was followed by an outpour of peer support
Over the weekend Tiga posted an intriguingly honest and genuine piece on Instagram disclosing details on how it's impossible to play a great set every night when you're a touring superstar DJ.
The post, which addressed the issue rarely discussed, followed a show in which he felt he performed poorly in Rome.
Tiga opens with: "Here's something nobody talks about; how about when you DON'T kill it...when you are actually wrong with the party. Your programming is lazy, your decisions are ill-informed...Your records sound slow. You can't maintain connection".
The Montreal artist continues with shutting down the common notion that many DJs believe their fans should praise their selections no matter the quality, explaining that this is definitely not the case but it's completely acceptable to have an off night.
"And just like that, for a few hours, the magic is gone. And that's ok - make it all the more magical when it reappears in another city, on another night."
An overwhelming flood of support following Tiga's post came from a huge number of artists praising his honesty and courage.
Dubfire and Scuba both responded relating to the problem at hand, while Cassius divulged: "Funny I was going through all those "DJs in private jets" pictures and on the verge of throwing up your text emerged...you're the guy that separates the men from the boys".
More applause came from peers like The Black Madonna, Felix Da Housecat, Disclosure, Kill Frenzy and Eats Everything, who confided: "read this a lot today, & whilst my description of me would be diff, sentiment is the same. You put it so well. You're an eloquent man, man".
