Los Angeles beat scene icons The Glitch Mob land in Hong Kong for a one-night-only gig
The duo are set to lead a stellar line-up local stalwarts on June 17
Los Angeles-based The Glitch Mob are headed to Hong Kong via invitation of local collectives Dark Metaz, Fiend and Yeti Out. Comprised of Ed Ma and Josh Mayer, the two manifested their mutual love of underground rave culture and solid beats into what’s considered one of the most beloved live electronic acts today.
Established in 2006 during the heyday of the LA bass-driven beat scene, the initially four-piece group were known for their visceral and innovative performances, surrounded by laptops and MIDI controllers.
Showcasing just how seamlessly tech and music blend, the group’s prominence spread through word of mouth, expanding their West Coast following into a nationwide and eventually global one, securing slots at notable festivals such as Lollapalooza, Ultra and more.
The Glitch Mob have demonstrated their open-ended approach towards music within their four studio albums and three remix albums; not to mention their bevvy of singles, mixtapes and remixes — including the popular rework of The White Stripes’ ‘Seven Nation Army’.
Their 2014 sophomore album ‘Love Death Immortality’ presented a different “stadium style” kind of sound than their previous productions, illustrating The Glitch Mob’s never-ending sonic exploration. It undoubtedly paid off; the album debuted at the top spot on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Songs chart.
Both Ma and Mayer are set to leave you entranced with their blend of glitch, electronica, IDM, industrial and anything in between. They’ll be supported by a stellar line-up of local talents.
On selector duty are Yeti Out’s Arthur Bray, Farrah b2b Just Bee, JFÜNG b2b Golow and MADCTRL b2b Kief E. But that’s not all; there’ll also be live performances by Busyboi b2b Shelf-Index, Casey Anderson and JVSY.
Make sure not to miss out on this epic night of top-quality, electrifying beats that’s scheduled for Saturday, June 17 at The Answer.
Be there when the first beat drops at 9 pm; tickets available here.
