The Exchange is swapping out Asia's favorite resident DJs and clubs
It launches this weekend with plans to unite Asia's many house and techno scenes
Over the last few years, Asia has seen its electronic music scene unfold into something that’s caught the attention of the world and the number of international DJs to play in the region has increased tenfold. But perhaps lost in the shuffle amongst the plethora of tours and festivals now happening in the area has been a focus on the local talent who are at least partially, if not more, responsible for the healthy and steady growth of the local electronic music market.
With the intent of unifying Asia’s house and techno scenes and building up the profile of regional artists, The Exchange launches this month and will be sending four resident DJs from prolific clubs and promotional outfits around Asia overseas to play at another host club all on the same night.
This month will see XX XX in Manila, kyō in Singapore, Cliché Records in Hong Kong and Beam in Bangkok participating in The Exchange and sending their artists across the border. They hope the exposure will draw more cross border attention to the artists, clubs and the overall burgeoning music scene in Asia.
The Exchange is slated to take place multiple times a year and future plans include seeing more cities, clubs, promoters and artists participating.
For the first date of The Exchange this Saturday July 24th, the shows are:
Bruder (XX XX, Manila) @ Kyo, Singapore
EJ Missy (Kyo, Singapore) @ Studio, Hong Kong
Ouissam (Cliche, Hong Kong) @ Beam, Bangkok
Marmosets (Beam, Bangkok) @ XX XX, Manila
