The Cure’s ‘Songs of a Lost World’ to be reworked by Orbital, Four Tet, Sally C, and more

The Cure’s fourth studio album ‘Songs of a Lost World’ is getting a rework.

To celebrate frontman Robert Smith’s birthday, the band have announced the release of a new 24-track remix album with contributions from the likes of Orbital, Four Tet, Sally C, and many more.

‘Mixes of a Lost World’ is due to land on June 13 via Polydor, with all recording royalties going toward the charity War Child. The album will be released as a triple LP.

Amongst the 24 artists tapped to take on reworks are Daniel Avery, Shanti Celeste, Mura Masa, Anja Schneider, Mogwai, Âme, meera, and many more.

The original record, released in 2024, marked the band’s return to a full-length project after some 16 years, and was their first album since 1992’s ‘Wish’ to reach number one in the UK.

In a statement shared with Pitchfork, frontman Robert Smith explained: “Just after Christmas I was sent a couple of unsolicited remixes of ‘Songs of a Lost World’ tracks and I really loved them.”

“The Cure has a colourful history with all kinds of dance music, and I was curious as to how the whole album would sound entirely reinterpreted by others.”

He added: “This curiosity resulted in a fabulous trip through all eight songs by 24 wonderful artists and remixers and is way beyond anything I could have hoped for.”
