The Coachella documentary is free to stream from Asia

Like Burning Man, Coachella is one of those experiences that many of us in Asia will never get to indulge in. It's a lot of money, a lot of planning and a lot of time spent to get around the world. Not to mention how hard it is just to get tickets.

Originally scheduled for this month, the landmark festival has been rescheduled for October. Will it happen? We don't know for sure, but we can still indulge in it either way. The next best (and cheapest) thing is to experience it from home, and we can do that since Coachella has opened up the vault and released a documentary chronicling the festivals evolution and cultural impact over 20 years.

The nearly two-hour documentary features previously unseen footage and interviews, and pulls back the curtains on the early beginnings of the event, which has grown to become one of the most iconic and coveted festivals in the world. You'll be taken back to key performances like Kanye West's Sunday Service show from 2019, Dr. Dre's iconic set in which Tupac made an appearance via hologram and the year Daft Punk's performance paved the way for electronic music at the event.

The documentary also includes appearances by Billie Eilish, Kanye West, Daft Punk, Travis Scott, BLACKPINK, LCD Soundsystem, Rage Against The Machine, Pixies, Swedish House Mafia, Jane’s Addiction, Björk, The White Stripes, Madonna, Moby, Beck, Radiohead and more.

‘Coachella: 20 Years in the Desert’, which is being marketed as #Couchella, is a Goldenvoice Production and made in association with Hamsterdam Productions. The documentary can be streamed for free courtesy of YouTube Originals. Can it fill the festival-sized void in our lives? Probably not, but we can watch it below anyway.

Coachella 2020 was orginally scheduled for April 10 – 12 and April 17 – 19, but is now rescheduled for October 9 – 11 and 16 – 18.
