Taipower Building gets reimagined as Taipei’s new electronic music hub
潮電 ChaoBar&RecordStore blends crate-digging, culture & literature with Taiwan’s cultural heritage
Taipei is home to Asia’s newest record store and culture hub 潮電ChaoBar&RecordStore which had its soft opening on November 20.
Located in the heart of Taipei, 潮電 ChaoBar&RecordStore reimagines the historic Taipower Building into a nexus for electronic music lovers.
As the latest evolution of the 潮電 Chaodian Project, this ambitious concept weaves electronic and ambient music into Taipei’s cultural fabric.
The space is currently open for trial operation hours every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday from 3pm til 8pm.
Redesigned by 2byWu&Chen’s studio, the space balances music, design and social gatherings into a fresh environment for the creative community, positioning itself as “an ideal space for designers and DJs”.

“Our goal is to create a listening-focused space where guests can handpick records for our in-house DJ and immerse themselves in thoughtfully curated electronic vinyl collections, primarily from Berlin and Tokyo,” says Jesse Chen, co-founder of 2byWu&Chen and curator of 潮電 ChaoBar&RecordStore.

Although electronic music is at the forefront of the project, the space offers books and magazines curated by the team over the years, while a thoughtfully crafted menu inspired by various music genres completes this unique experience.
潮電 ChaoBar&RecordStore aims to do more than provide a physical space—it seeks to nurture Taipei’s electronic music culture through intimate performances, vinyl-driven parties, and immersive exhibitions. These gatherings aspire to cultivate a tight-knit community while offering Taipei’s electronic music fans a broader selection of listening experiences.
