SYNERGY Festival debuts a virtual gallery ahead of IRL festival

You Invent the Story of How Your Destinies Were Made is a new virtual gallery curated by the friends and family of SYNERGY Festival. Opening today, the gallery will run in tandem with the event — which takes place in March — and invites a global audience to discover a unique browsing experience by attending the online exhibition from Taiwan.

Curated by Tzuhuan Lin, veeeky and XTRUX, all from Taiwan, the artists have constructed three distinct virtual spaces for the online exhibition. Flat Earth: Why isn't the horizon curved when you take a photo? by Tzuhuan Lin is about giving shape to abstract ideas. Through visual storytelling, he imagines the possibilities of a Flat Earth Theory.

veeeky’s Water Skin contemplates whether there is a “skin” on the surface of water; the matter of its existence and its visibility to the observer depends on whether the observer chooses to focus on it.

Virtual Ambiguity by XTRUX attempts to comb through the collective consciousness established by multi-layered independent events throughout folk beliefs and religious history while pursuing how these beliefs shaped events, emotions and perspectives. Through simulated gaming mechanisms, XTRUX explores a second reality and culture that is created by consciousness when combined with physical memory in the virtual space.

Alongside the three main works, the gallery will also showcase the many submissions and art pieces collected during a month-long open call and relate to the concepts of the themed spaces.

SYNERGY Festival is a brand-new music festival that promotes gender equality and mutual respect while embracing cultural diversity. The mission is to create a safe environment where partygoers can enjoy art while feeling comfortable and protected. Singer-songwriters, electronic music producers and visual artists will collaborate on a reinterpreted version of their work to provide a unique audio-visual live experience for attendees of the festival.

The SYNERGY Virtual Art Gallery opens today and runs until April 20. Find the gallery here accompanied by a guided tour.
