Premiere: DJ MARIA. remixes Sunju Hargun’s ‘Silverhaze’ into a techno ripper

Sunju Hargun unveils ‘Extans Mantra: The Final Trip’, a closing chapter in the long-running project, releasing new original material alongside a curated set of remixes, including a standout rework from DJ MARIA..

As ‘Extans Mantra’ reaches its final chapter, an unheard demo resurfaces from the archive. ‘F9’, a track long buried in hard drives, was originally intended for Volume 2 of the series. Built around the SH-101 and Prophet-6, it captures an earlier phase of Sunju Hargun’s experimentation, raw and exploratory in spirit.

Elsewhere, ‘Marsa’ (originally featured in the second installment of the series) returns with a fresh mastering treatment.

The tracks of ‘Extans Mantra’: The Final Trip also comprise of remixes from artists across different corners of the world, with Robert Istoc, Film, Midnight Traffic, Innerworld, and DJ MARIA. each breathing new life into past material and reshaping the tracks through their own lens.

Speaking on the series as a whole, the Siamese Twins Records co-founder shares: “Some of you might already know about my early works, including a project called ‘Extans Mantra’. Over the years I released six albums on Bandcamp along with a few collaborations with close friends and a couple of early remixes. Much of that music grew out of inspiration to create soundtracks for my meditation and yoga practices.”

He continues: “At a certain point I felt I had reached the creative limit of what the project needed to be. It felt right to finally close this chapter and take the final trip. I am extremely honoured and proud to have this crew on board: Robert Istoc, DJ MARIA., FILM, Midnight Traffic and Innerworld. Each of them has brought new breath to the past material and reshaped it through their mind and machines.”

In this final chapter of ‘Extans Mantra’, DJ MARIA. revisits ‘Silverhaze’, revealing the track in a starkly different light.

Where the original leans toward ambient, meditative territory with a focus on being pensive and calming, with haunting vocals cutting through its surreal atmosphere, the remix shifts gears entirely.

The vocals remain, but are now set against rolling low-end and driving percussion, pushing the track firmly into late-night techno territory.
