Stunt Doubles debuts with cinematic dancefloor-ready two-tracker

A new collaborative project has emerged from the worlds of UK producer Anish Kumar and Baalti (the duo of Jaiveer and Mihir): Stunt Doubles.

The trio’s debut release, ‘Stunt Doubles (Pt.1)’, is out now via Method 808, introducing a playful, cinematic approach to dance music rooted in South Asian sounds and crate-digging culture.

Described as “the best-kept secret from your desi dad’s cassette collection,” Stunt Doubles blends vintage Indian aesthetics, disco, psychedelia, and surrealist themes into a unique sonic identity.

The project gives all three artists space to explore sounds outside their usual lanes, tied together by a shared love for sampling, groove, and leftfield ideas.

“The tracks came together super quickly—out of manic 30-minute beat battle power sessions while locked away in Berwick-upon-Tweed, and ended up sounding quite cinematic, like they could soundtrack old movie clips and action sequences,” the trio explain.

They continue: “So we really leaned into worldbuilding in that vein, creating a new fictional ‘band’ separate from our solo projects and playing theatrical, weird, and over-the-top characters.”

‘Title Theme’ grew out of those early beat battle sessions—a chopped-up, driving track that feels like the soundtrack to an old Tamil action film.

On ‘Chalo Chalo’, Anish’s melodic riff forms the foundation for Baalti’s blend of Bollywood disco textures, vocal chops, and warm, filtered grooves.
