Stone Roses legend Mani to be immortalised with permanent mural in Manchester
A crowdfunder has been launched to raise money toward the tribute piece and a local cancer charity
A crowdfunder has been launched to help establish a mural in tribute to the late Stone Roses and Primal Scream member Gary Mounfield, AKA Mani.
The planned, “large-scale” mural will immortalise the legendary bassist in Manchester, just a few months after his untimely death at the age of 63 in November 2025.
The crowdfunder aims to raise £10,000 to support the mural’s creation, with funds also going toward a cancer charity “close to Mani’s heart”, Maggie’s Manchester.

“Inspired by Ian Brown's eulogy to Mani at Manchester Cathedral, a major community crowdfunder is being launched to create a large-scale mural,” the fundraiser reads.
Planned by local art non-profit GRIT Studios, the mural will be created in Failsworth, Greater Manchester, where Mani grew up and spent his childhood years. It follows an "overwhelming outpouring of love” from fans across the area.
“Mani's brother, Greg Mounfield, is supporting this campaign and has facilitated a prominent large wall space for the mural and chosen the design,” the fundraiser reads.

“It will be painted by the renowned artist Pic.One.Art, whose recent portrait of Noel and Liam Gallagher outside the iconic Sifters Records in Burnage became an instant landmark and received widespread attention.”
The fundraiser has so far garnered more than £6,000 of a £10,000 goal, which it hopes to reach by the end of March. Support has poured in for the mural from fans and locals.
“It will not only fund the creation of the mural but all profits will go to Maggie's Manchester, which was close to Mani and his wife Imelda’s hearts during her cancer treatment and for whom they fundraised.”
