Snapped: S2O Songkran Music Festival 2017
Thailand's biggest, wettest and wildest festival had a massive third year
While much of Bangkok is drying off from yet another wet and wild Songkran, revelers at S2O Songkran Music Festival were soaked to another level this past weekend. The festival, which saw its water canons upgraded this year with new water mechanics jutting from a custom designed stage that includes water effects based on water fountain technology from Dubai, relentlessly spray gallons and gallons of water onto a crowd of more than 45,000 over the three day weekend.
Jonas Blue was the star of the first day and didn't disappoint with his debut Bangkok show, showing Asia why he is about to be one of the most in demand artist on the planet. The legendary DJ Craze offered a refreshing alternative to EDM with his blend of trap and bass heavy music, his prowess can easily rock any crowd and even the most elite technical genius. Mija was possibly the crowds favorite performance of the festival with her unexpected transition from trap to hardstyle that got the crowd going absolutely wild. Seven Lions also delivered a surprise package and as usual, Don Diablo was in top form with a classy and seamless performance. Laidback Luke, Jay Hardway, Kill the Noise, Valentino Khan, Henry Fong, Yellow Claw, Martin Jensen, Matthew Koma and Michael Calfan also played the 2017 of S2O Songkran Music Festival.
It’s hard to believe that this behemoth event is only in its third year considering the outstanding production effort and jaw-dropping turnout. This combined with festival’s unique spin on traditional Thai New Year’s celebrations makes it one for the bucket list. See you next Songkran!
