On February 21, RASA collaborates with local party collective, Manifest, to welcome Osunlade, a pioneer in house music that is deeply rooted in Nigerian spirituality and culture.

Osunlade has spent the past four decades making music that is soulful, percussive, uplifting.

Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Osunlade’s musical journey began early, mastering piano, drums, bass, and guitar as a teenager. His career began in the late ’80s producing for artists like Patti LaBelle, but a desire for greater artistic freedom led him to leave the commercial music industry behind.

Known not just as a musician and composer, he is also an ordained Yoruba priest. In 1999, Osunlade founded Yoruba Records, a label inspired by his faith and ancestral heritage. Over two decades later, Yoruba Records remains a cornerstone of Afro-spiritual house music, releasing timeless tracks like Erro’s ‘Don’t Change’ and DJ Fudge & Hallex M’s ‘Simpatico’.

Osunlade’s independent spirit defines his career. Running his label and his career as a one-man show, he has never had a publisher or manager. His DIY ethos has allowed him to stay true to his artistic vision. Whether performing in Santorini, Berlin, or Puerto Rico, Osunlade brings authenticity and depth to every set. His performance at RASA will be an uplifting mix of Afro-spiritual rhythms and soulful modern house grooves.
