Shi Fu Miz shakes off Asia’s festival woes & announces the first round of acts
Move D, Roman Flügel, Licaxxx and more offer Hong Kong hope
We’re not trying to sugar coat anything. The chances of festival season taking place anywhere in the world this year are looking grim. But most of Asia is blessed with a blissful climate year-round, so we go a little longer and this lends hope to events slated for the end of this year.
That said, with the current climate of cancellations and postponements amid the chaos that is currently unfurling in the world around us, you might not be ready for this good news, but here it is — Shi Fu Miz in Hong Kong has just released a delicious round of artists, and we are fucking ready.
This year’s iteration of Hong Kong’s beloved (and only) underground music festival has been upgraded to three days from two and is set to take place on October 30 — November 1, which leaves lots of time for our planet to heal.
The first round of acts includes Move D, Roman Flügel, Licaxxx and more. See the ambitious full first round of acts below:
The annual event takes place just a quick boat ride away from Hong Kong’s harbourfront in the grasses of Sai Yuen Farm on Cheung Chau Island, which also boasts idyllic golden sand beaches. This will be the sixth edition of Shi Fu Miz, which is a joint venture by Parisian collective La Mamie’s and Hong Kong-based creative agency Fufu.
Over the years, the event has become synonymous with eclectic and forward-thinking artists who push the boundaries of electronic music in a mystical setting that evokes feelings of inclusivity and freedom. Last year saw more than 2,000 festival descend upon the grounds despite months of protest unfurling in Hong Kong. A Boiler Room takeover gave people hope that Hong Kong still has some life left in it, and that couldn’t be more true for this year.
