The ‘Room to Listen Presents’ series lands a fortnightly event on wax at the KLoé Hotel in KL

Curated by Rudy La Faber and the musical brains behind fono, a music series called ‘Room To Listen Presents’ looks to host a showcase of left-field music to the ears of Kuala Lumpur in KLoé Hotel. To those who are familiar with fono’s intimate charm and space that sits in the heart of KL, you can expect to hear those same nuances of the record bar itself.

Bringing the soul of fono to KLoé Hotel, the ideation of the series aims to introduce and unveil new tracks and hidden gems that sit within the focus of vinyl, a solid emphasis that is highlighted within the nights. The nights look towards KL’s finest talents every fortnight to unearth selected tracks according to the thematic affairs of the space.

Music aficionados in town would have most likely heard the sounds and spirit of fono since 2018, the record bar has since been a venue where vinyl lives and is a safe haven for DJs to experiment with their sound. Last year in August, fono called out for donations to keep them alive to curate, craft and deliver what they do best.

The ‘Room To Listen Presents’ concept was born fairly recently on the last week of February with their first event ‘A Brimful of KLoé with the 45s’ which paid homage to the vinyl DJs that were selected by the creative collective Public School behind fono. This Saturday March 12, they will be featuring their second instalment, Asean Groove, which will feature Southeast Asian music on wax.

KLoé Hotel is a boutique hotel that has weaved in KL’s creative spirit through its furniture, art, music, interior, food and environment. With this, its rooms are created with those inspirations in mind and it features five Artist Lofts that are unique to each fitted with everything to fuel your creative juices within the realms of art (Room to Draw: Channel your inner artist and create your personal masterpiece), music (Room to Listen: Put a record on and enjoy your new favourite tracks), books (Room to Read: Curl up with a good book in your own personal library), food (Room to Taste: Indulge in your personal pantry of hand-picked produce) and gardens (Room to Grow: Your personal greenhouse in the city). ‘Room To Listen’ is paired with an extended experience by providing a myriad of left field tunes to the hotel’s guests in the room and the lobby.

If you’re in the city of KL this Saturday from 3-7pm, head over to KLoé Hotel in Bukit Bintang for a collaborative night of Southeast Asian styles within the vinyl world.
