Fashion icon Rola launches sustainable lifestyle brand
The Japanese star promotes “essentials for a good life”
Japanese fashion icon
and TV personality Rola has launched a new environmentally conscious
lifestyle brand, Studio R330. The first offering from the label is a
bold range of sustainable workout apparel made from recycled clothing
and plastic waste.
One of Japan's most recognisable
celebrities, Rola has long used her status and platform to push a
message of sustainable living and is a well-known advocate for
environmentalism and animal rights. With this in mind, it's perhaps
no surprise that sustainability is a core concept of Studio R330.
“Our ethos is to make high-quality sustainable products, designed
with positivity in mind, that take into consideration the
environment,” said Rola on the brand's website. “Our ultimate
goal is to bring happiness by contributing to (the) future of our
planet.”
Rola began her
modelling career as a teenager after her stunning looks caught the
attention of a talent scout as she walked through the streets of
Tokyo's famous Shibuya district. Her popularity exploded following
her first appearance on the cover of Vivi magazine in 2008, and her
image is now ubiquitous on billboards around Japan. She is among the
best-known TV personalities, or 'tarento', in the country, and has
one of the biggest social media followings of any Japanese
celebrity.
The introductory line of workout gear is inspired by the natural lifestyle in Los Angeles, where Rola now lives, and was designed to “share the importance of exercising to develop a healthy body and mind.” The collection has a striking, modernist look, and includes bomber jackets, hoodies, sports bras, shorts and more.
