Pettson has released his latest five-track EP ‘Satchidanada’, merging the philosophical aspects of music, sports and his love of Thai boxing. The EP was released on June 30 via Rotterdam-based record label and event promoter, Infinite Pleasures.
‘Satchidanada’ is a 29-minute project by the Rotterdam-based producer that skillfully blends intricate beats with profound melodies, leaving no genre untouched.
From the pulsating rhythms of breakbeat to the electrifying energy of electro, the deep reverberations of deep dub, the soulful essence of two-step, and the ethereal landscapes of ambient all laced with a unique freshness and originality.
The title of the EP is a homage to the great Alice Coltrane and Pharoah Sanders album, ‘Journey in Satchidananda’.

Today we shine the spotlight on the EP’s closer, ‘Muay Thai’; an ambient track serving as an ode to Thailand. Whilst visiting the country, Pettson developed a deep admiration for its rich culture, particularly the national sport of Muay Thai, along with its cultural and ceremonial significance.

The track is six minutes of evolving, ever-changing soundscapes, with ethereal synths and dreamlike textures, elegantly sampling traditional Sarama music that starts out slow to match the mood of the rituals. As fighting commences, the sonic energy intensifies in sync with the fighters.
“Through the composition of this track, I aimed to capture the essence of my experience in Thailand. Towards the end of the track, I sampled Sarama, the traditional music played during Muay Thai matches. The music intensifies the atmosphere surrounding the ring as the fighters lock eyes and the crowd cheers, placing their bets on who will emerge victorious,” explains Pettson.
