Pépé Bradock's Brigitte Barbu alias scores far from norm sophomore album

Brigitte Barbu, the alias of French electronic music producer Pépé Bradock, has released a sophomore album, ‘La Science des Imbéciles (Ludicrous System)’ and oozes deep sensuality in a quasi-pop format.

The album showcases Barbu's unique style of blending “arrogant synthesizers and humble plug-ins”, resulting in a warm, fuzzy and rather poetically contrasting LP.

The elements that went into the making of ‘La Science des Imbéciles (Ludicrous System)’ includes a powerful branded calculator, digital converters, boutique preamps, and various synthetic substitutions, resulting in a blooming album that is perfect for spring cleaning.

And according to the artist, additional elements that contributed to making of the album include, and clearly not limited to “orgasmic pads, sublime beaches, distorted nostalgia, frustrated markets, perfect crowds, shady brews, body fluids, magnificent news, fried stars, hairy spouses, loud flirts, cosmic crumbs, healed sons, dumb technology, rare games, underground motherships, Turkish tarot, fat bits and heavy cream, fresh herbs, exotic invectives, a stuttering abacus, lamb’s bread, silent farts, croissants chauds, extended outsiders, incongruous «patisseries», condescending muffs, violent eardrums, hijacked bytes, macho bakers, epic fails, viennese bass, very large ear (and) hilarious gliding.”

A peek into the music video of ‘Fruit Cakes’ puts the above into some context. Watch below.

While leaning on the experimental tip, Babu successfully retains the deeper shades we’ve grown to know through years of Pépé Bradock releases, particularly with the consistency of warm and melty mid-range frequencies that reign over eclectic drum work.

‘La Science des Imbéciles’, which in English translates to ‘Science of Fools’, is a must-listen for fans of electronica who appreciate unique and experimental sounds. Barbu's second explicit and sensual album is a manifestation of a blurry creation that defies conventional music norms.

Brigitte Barbu ‘La Science des Imbéciles’ is out today on Circus Company, and available on vinyl and digital formats. Listen below and order here.
