Ohrwurm limelights Malaysian producers for 2nd round of remixes

Ohrwurm continues to celebrate 11 years of throwing down some of the finest house and techno in Kuala Lumpur with fresh remixes off the original commemorative compilation released in the summer of 2021.

Since 2012, Ohrwurm has been synonymous with Kuala Lumpur’s underground scene, and their infamous nights saw them hosting early globetrotters like Danny Howells and John Digweed. They gradually expanded to host the likes of Guti, KiNK, Guy J, Pezzner, Osunlade, Phil Weeks and Kate Simko. In between hosting international guests, the trio would curate nights focused on local talent including the likes of JonnyVicious, Victor G from W Kuala Lumpur and Axel Groove.

“Our main focus doesn't really have a fixed sound that we want to be known for, and we think this is crucial as our aim. From the start we have been mainly focusing on releasing tracks from Malaysia & subsequently the rest of Asia. Expect dancefloor treats to ambient, to anything we feel is suitable for the world.”

Following the first round of remixes that got released last November, the label went back to four of the original artists — NAZARUD, HonG, Nazreth and Ohrwurm honcho Alam all deliver their own interpretations that touch on a more melodic and techno sensibilities.

Alam adds, “As for other releases, we do have EPs lined up from local producers, just like we did for OHRM002 with Tele Vizion from Iran.”
