NTS Radio is looking for new residents

NTS Radio has put out an open call for new residents, highlighting some specific genres for the station to expand into.

In the call, NTS encouraged genre specialists in alte, asakaa, jazz fusion, two-step soul, 20s to 70s era blues, outsider country, highlife, min’yo, sanjo, nanyin, metal, classical, gnawa, amapiano, lovers rock, dub and reggae to apply.

In the proposal, DJs are asked to give their project blueprints in the way of a show title and description, along with proposed genres and links to show demos and social media links.

“We’re looking for new NTS residents. Tell a friend” read the tweet from the London station on June 1. The station announced a listener support scheme last year, where supporters were asked to pay toward the free station in aid of licensing, streaming and show production.

The London radio station has now been running for 10 years, celebrating its decade anniversary in April this year. Having redefined the meaning of radio in every sense, the station now plays host to some of the most exciting DJs worldwide.

On its 10th birthday, NTS presented a show with special guests Theo Parrish, Dopplereffekt, Arca and creator of The Simpsons, Matt Groening.

Taking place from April 19 to April 23, NTS held a week of broadcasts from 10 special guests, which also included My Bloody Valentine and Laurie Anderson. All proceeds from the event went toward The Global Foodbanking Network.
