Not Bad For A Girl launch new record label EQUAL PARTS
Championing women, non-binary and transgender people in music, the move comes five years since its launch
NOT BAD FOR A GIRL - a collective rooted across Manchester, Bristol and London providing support and opportunities for women, non-binary and transgender people in the music industry - has launched its new label, EQUAL PARTS.
Created to release music particularly from artists who have historically faced greater barriers to entry because of their gender, its name is borrowed from an early-days slogan within the collective: ‘equal pay, equal opportunity and EQUAL PARTS SPIRIT AND MIXER.'

The first release on EQUAL PARTS is available now, with member THT GRL teaming up with her partner PCKRNG to share 'Don't You'. It's a high energy, full-throttle speed garage cut, and the imprint has teased future releases from Shirley Temper, DaiSu and Urbi.
"The first release is from THT GRL, who is one of our members, in her production duo with her partner PCKRNG, who is the former owner of DOIN BITS magazine," explains Not Bad For A Girl founder Martha Bolton.
"We’ve signed their track ‘Don’t You’ which has had some really big coverage already on stations like George FM and BBC. I love that you can really tell that they’re partners through the music they make. When I listen to their tunes I get the same excited, chaotic feeling as when I hang out with them.
“We’re done with being harassed in the booth," she continues. "We’re bored of seeing the same male artists on every lineup. It’s time to say enough is enough to the tired pattern of misogyny that is suffocating the scene. The music industry is broken, and we’re here to fix it.”
