New independent space SLAP 拍 launches with 12-hour opening party
The 150 pax multiple-room venue in Hong Kong opens with an all-local line-up on December 28
On Saturday, December 28, Hong Kong’ is set to officially welcome SLAP 拍, a new venue blending music, art, and community.
Nestled between Mong Kok and Tai Kok Tsui—two areas long tied to the city’s party underground— the self-funded project with no outside investors sets itself apart as an independent, grassroots project that celebrates Hong Kong’s vibrant alternative culture.
Its 150-person capacity spans multiple rooms (a nightclub, café and exhibition space), made to feel expansive thanks to soaring ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows.
Equipped with a powerful Funktion-One sound system, SLAP 拍 promises a top-tier sonic experience while offering cosy nooks for unwinding.
SLAP 拍 draws inspiration from Hong Kong’s rich clubbing history—from the rise of dance music in the 1980s to the DIY raves and underground parties of Kowloon and the New Territories. Its music programming is currently prioritising local talent and aims to invite international guests in the future.
“Our club is a place for dancing, for saying and doing whatever is on your mind, and a place that will continue to be shaped by the community. We wanted to create a place where people feel open to be whoever they are to give them the hope to do whatever they want—a nightclub that is truly reflective of our city’s vibrant alternative electronic music community,” says SLAP 拍 co-founder, Tracy Pang.
