New book tracing Laurent Garnier’s life and career has been published
'Garnier' is described as a "portrait of a pioneer and a manifesto for dance, celebration, and the night"
A new biography tracing Laurent Garnier’s decades-long career in dance music has been released.
Simply titled Garnier, the new book is penned by author and essayist Mathilde Ramadier, who has spent years following the French DJ’s lengthy career.
Though few details were revealed around the book ahead of its release, it’s said to be a "reflection of Garnier’s legacy", offering both a "portrait of a pioneer and a manifesto for dance, celebration, and the night."

Ramadier, who was previously inspired by Garnier when co-creating the 2013 graphic novel Rêves Syncopés alongside French visual artist Laurent Bonneau, traces his life all the way back to childhood.
"Composer, producer, pioneer…" reads a synopsis for Garnier. "Over the years, Laurent Garnier has become the French icon of techno culture."
"From clubs to festivals and raves, he has succeeded in making electronic music, once marginalised, the latest major musical revolution. As popular as he is tireless, the DJ has consistently championed a sensitive, collective, and political vision of music."
Garnier features "extensive" conversations between Ramadier and the DJ, tracing back to his time playing music in his bedroom to nights at Manchester’s renowned club Haçienda.

Laurent Garnier previously penned an autobiographical book in 2015 titled ELECTROCHOC, dubbed a "true insider account of the rise of the dance scene" from the ‘80s onwards.
The book lands at a pivotal time for Garnier, who last year hinted that he may soon stop touring after sharing his fears of becoming a "dusty jukebox".
"I'll still do a few dates," he said in an interview on France Inter Radio's Morning Show last April. "Is it really relevant to still be behind the decks at 60?"
