Natural wines & hi-fi audio flow at Zodiac's new Baresto and Store

Making a buzz across Jakarta’s cultural landscape, inventive lifestyle brand ZODIAC expands its creative portfolio with two new openings: ZODIAC Baresto and ZODIAC Store.

Located on Jl. Adityawarman in South Jakarta, the new Baresto space places its main focus on bar and kitchen offerings with an emphasis on rotating natural wines, forward-thinking cocktails and specialist coffee.

Led by culinary maestro Adriel Simorangkir, ZODIAC Baresto infuses a modern twist into traditional Japanese dishes, introducing guests to ゾディ飯 (ˈzōdēmeshi) cuisine. Renowned bar director Shah Dillon, celebrated for his work at 40 Thieves in Bali, curates a signature array of handcrafted cocktails.

ZODIAC Baresto makes a bold step to tap into the global natural wine movement, which has started to become synonymous with curated music spaces such as Mule Musiq’s listening space in Shibuya, Studio Mule. Shinichi Takahashi, the owner of the world-renowned wine bar, Human Nature, said that natural wine is “not just a movement to return to traditional production methods, but a counterculture that defies the prevailing system of wine culture, including the values, markets, institutions, and tastes.”

To pair with the wine experience, the ZODIAC team turned to their friends at Sound Metaphors to customise a handcrafted set of H.A.N.D HiFi speakers from Berlin. We hear they sound best when you're sat with a funky pet nat in hand.

They’ve also looked to Bandung-based instrument builder and experimental artist Evan Storn for a custom-built Storn System mixer.

Adjacent to ZODIAC Baresto, ZODIAC Store transcends traditional retail experiences. With its alluring ambience, white walls, light wooden flooring, and Taguchi Japan speakers, the store’s visual appeal is as inviting as what’s stocked on the shelves. Curated with care, the store showcases local designers and creatives, trending international brands and limited edition items.
