'Music, Makers & Machines' is a new free online exhibition celebrating the history and legacy of electronic music

‘Music, Makers & Machines’ is a new online exhibition accessible to all and free of charge celebrating the history and legacy of electronic music.

While lockdown has left dancefloors empty, the use of augmented reality, over 13,000 archived photos and videos, 200 online exhibitions, 360-degree tours and 3D scans will transport visitors right back to the club and its community.

The exhibition also comes with a lesson plan for schools and students to engage with online learning.

Exhibition highlights include ‘A Brief History of Early Dubstep’ as told by photographer and artist Georgina Cook, ‘Blacktronika’ exploring Black innovators in electronic music, ‘How Grine Took Over the UK’, and a collection of iconic rave flyers presented by the Museum of Youth Culture and with a personal story by one of Europe’s biggest flyer collectors phatmedia.

There will also be opportunities to virtually explore iconic music-making machines, explore some of the key rave cities around the world, and delve into personal stories of the rave community.

‘Music, Makers & Machines’ is available to view online here or through the Google Arts & Culture app for iOS and Android.
