Mixmag Asia Radio: Wildealer shares his electric set from UNUM Festival
The Thai maestro shares two hours of infectiously uplifting house during his set at one of Europe’s must-see events
Firstly, how was UNUM Festival where you recorded this mix?
UNUM was a festival for music lovers, and I couldn’t believe there would be such a big festival in a country I’m not familiar with. The hospitality and the vibe of the festival were something different, and I look forward to being back. Big love to Moussa and Aminata.
What was the inspiration for this mix—why is it special?
It was my first time in Albania and at UNUM, so I wasn’t sure how to approach it. However, I’ve always wanted to showcase a daytime vibe in one of my sets, and I had the perfect opportunity to do so at UNUM Festival. Initially, I didn’t plan for this to be put out as a mix, but I had a lot of fun playing and testing out some new releases. I wanted to share my vibe with everyone who wasn't there.
Where have some of your favourite places been during your Europe tour?
My favourite places this time around were definitely Ibiza and Albania. Aside from playing on tour, I also had the chance to attend various events and see DJs that I have always wanted to see. I got to learn something new and meet some very cool people along the way.
Dream event/festival to play?
This is a difficult one. There are many events and festivals that I dream of playing, so I’ll just mention a few: Houghton, Dimension, Carnival in Brazil, Love Parade, and Glastonbury.
How does playing at a festival differ from playing in a club?
The sound and vibe are clearly different. Playing certain tracks in an outdoor environment has a different impact compared to playing them in a club. I love the intimate vibe of a club, but I also enjoy an open space where I can showcase my sound.
Your favourite dancefloor in Asia?
Baba Beach Club, Wonderfruit (Solar Stage), and a special mention to De Commune and Never Normal (I had some amazing memories playing there with the Tawfire crew.. very sad that they had to close their doors).
Name one DJ you’d love to play back-to-back with!
If I could choose, it would be to play with my partner JAMSAI, easily one of the craziest musical inspirations for me.
What recent trends in music have caught your attention, and why?
I have noticed that a lot of upcoming artists have a distinctive sound, presenting their roots and attitudes. They are bridging the gap between underground music and mass music in their own way, paving a path for something new. It’s good to see how music is interpreted by different audiences.
Are there any producers and DJs in Asia that have recently caught your attention?
Chalo; Love his production and sound design, super talented and I'm excited to see his journey.
Pissawong (ahivar & Meltmode); A super exciting project pushing local artists with their productions and releases, representing Thai roots.
Kunanon; A new up-and-coming underground DJ that has caught my eye with his selection.
What do you have coming up for the rest of 2025?
First, I can’t wait to go back home and eat some Thai food. I have a couple of regional shows coming up in Bali, Singapore, and Shanghai. I’m also looking forward to Kolour Hua Hin and my residency at Baba Beach Club.
Aside from this, I’m planning on spending more time in the studio, working on my releases, my label Pissawong, and my event series Tawfire. I’m super inspired by my Europe tour and can’t wait to take all that I saw and experienced and create something unique back in Asia.
