For a fifth year we're teaming up with International Music Summit (IMS) to discover the next generation of music industry innovators, influencers, and distributors.
Through the IMS x Mixmag Visionaries Contest and IMS Accelerator Contest you could kickstart your career within the electronic music industry.
This year we bring you two opportunities offering you a chance to receive a platform to pitch your ideas, professional mentoring and support and a break into networking where you will be able to develop your work with some of the most creative and forward-thinking figures in the industry.
If you're passionate about electronic music, have innovative ideas and aren't scared to disrupt the current industry mould, applications need to be submitted here by March 21.
Applicants for the Visionaries Contest need to be between 18 and 25, and create a three to five-minute video on one of the below themes:
What would you change to progress the Electronic Music industry?
What issues have you identified in the electronic music industry and what would you do to address them?
How do you see the electronic music industry evolving, what changes do you predict and why?
Once you've made the vid, upload it and share it on your social media channels using the hashtags #IMSVISIONARIES #IMS #MIXMAG #IMSIBIZA.
The winner of Visionaries will receive: a return trip to the IMS event in Ibiza, a two-night stay at the Hard Rock Hotel, an IMS Ibiza delegate badge, a three-month mentorship program from SheSaid. So, a tailored career coaching session from participating industry partners and much more.
Previous Visionaries winners include Mixmag's own Valerie Lee, who is now the West Coast Editor of the US office.
To apply to be apart of the Accelerator Contest you need to be a start-up music business and send in your pitch deck via video.
There will be three winners for Accelerator, with each to receive IMS Ibiza delegate badges, an introduction to potential clients, investors and mentors, access to TopicDNA Reporting Platform, and promotion on IMS digital platforms.
Ben Turner, IMS co-founder, stated: “At the heart of IMS is the drive to be a catalyst in the industry, to bring about new ideas and develop new ways of working to push the genre forwards to guarantee a sustainable and successful future.
"A vital element of this is supporting emerging professionals and the fledgling start-ups that will fuel this change. IMS x Mixmag Visionaries has already found some exceptional thinkers that continue to make waves in our industry, launching IMS Accelerator to support the tech community and start-up culture feels like the natural progression in our ongoing efforts to nurture the next generation. We look forward to hearing your ideas and solutions to help push the music industry forward "
Mixmag editor Duncan JA Dick added: “For anyone aspiring for a job in the dance music industry, this is the ultimate prize - an opportunity not just to get your 'big break', but to have the early stages of your career nurtured by some of the most knowledgeable people and brands in the business. And, of course, party with us at IMS. Good luck!”
