Midori returns for an enhanced second edition in October

Hong Kong boutique electronic music festival, Midori, is set to make a grand return this October, building on the success of its inaugural event in May.

Presented by y2k and Omni Agency, the second edition of Midori promises an even more immersive and expansive experience, taking place over the Chung Yeung Festival long weekend on October 11-13.

Hosted at a breathtaking private rural location nestled in a picturesque valley, Midori offers a three-day, two-night escape filled with a perfectly curated balance of top-tier house, techno, and bass music.

The festival features an impressive roster of local talent, including renowned groups like Spin Sum, Surprise Surprise, Abyss, and Yeti Out. “We’ve programmed what we think will be an excellent musical journey across the long weekend,” says Omni Agency co-founder Adam Wright.

This year, Midori places a stronger emphasis on experiential elements, enhancing its mission to create a holistic festival experience. In addition to presenting an exceptional musical line-up, it also celebrates Hong Kong’s stunning landscapes and diverse culture.

“All of the elements that we introduced at the first festival have been expanded for the October edition: we have more hands-on workshops (on topics like music production and turning waste into art), more activities (including foraging and rice cultivation), a bigger marketplace and a quite surreal new performance tent where you’ll discover some fairly mental stuff,” Adam adds.

Y2K founder Nathan Cornish highlights the festival’s dedication to celebrating Hong Kong’s natural and cultural heritage. "Midori plays a crucial role in highlighting Hong Kong's rich natural identity, showcasing its spectacular environment and our unique culture," he explains, adding how it offers "A distinctive boutique experience, and attendees can expect a memorable weekend where getting there is a part of the fun, and the journey enhances their connection to the location."

The festival also features a vibrant marketplace, late-night outdoor cinema, and eco-friendly practices, fostering a strong sense of community among attendees.
