Mica takes a deeper dive with ‘Altuma EP’
The Manila-based techno artist churns out deep and smooth grooves on her debut with Piston Recordings
Manila-based techno DJ and producer Mica has been nothing but relentless this year when it comes to her musical output. Aside from just dropping ‘Altuma EP’, a smooth and hypnotic deep house groove package on Piston Recordings, she’s been busy with the launch of her co-founded label Sayaw Records — an electronic imprint that aims to shed light on Filipino talent.
‘Altuma’ boasts itself as the highlight on its namesake short-player, ‘Altuma EP’, and it’s an easily well received deep house mover, lightly brushed with vibrant chord structures and rhythm that exudes a forward-thinking, simplistic groove. It’s a no-brainer groover for the early hours that need extra warmth on the floor, but would also fit in very comfortably for a moody sunrise.
‘Caelum’ and ‘Igneus’ follow suit with unblemished smoothness, playful and undulating basslines and mild doses of infectious arpeggios and melodies.
