New masks keep you safe, anonymous & looking like your favorite electronic act
Buy it, use it, break it, fix it, trash it, change it, mask, upgrade it
Blanc is Kickstarter-ing full-face modular masks that protect the wearers from the outside world through HEPA filters. The oval-shaped masks’ opaqueness and ability to give anonymity reminds us of the mysterious robots of electronic music, Daft Punk.
Vaccine or no vaccine, masks are in Asia to stay. Blanc’s Daft Punk-inspired masks protect not only the nose and mouth but the eyes and full face with an air-tight fit. Users breathe through high-efficiency filters, which purify the air in real-time and create a fresh-air bubble. Unfortunately, Blanc’s masks do not come with vocoders to make people sound like the singer on ‘One More Time,’ but voice modulators are set to be released after the Kickstarter campaign is over.
Unlike cloth or N95 masks, Blanc’s masks obscure the face fully and protect the privacy of the wearer from intrusive facial recognition software. The masks come in basic colors of black and white, but the front is made of interchangeable magnetic panels. These face shields can be customized into leopard print, rainbow patterns, or even a Daft Punk logo if that is the decoration the wearer wants.
With 39 days left on the Kickstarter campaign, Blanc has shattered the modest US$20,000 goal with over 2,000 backers and more than US$229,000 in funding. If you want to be ‘Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger’ with your new Blanc mask for 2021, pledge to get one soon.
