Martial arts icon Bruce Lee gets immortalised in anime form for ‘House of Lee’

Bruce Lee, star of the classic film 'Enter the Dragon', is set to have his own anime series titled ‘House of Lee’; a fantasy/action series heavily inspired by a mantra from Lee himself; "Those who are unaware they are walking in darkness will never seek the light."

The project is led by Lee’s daughter, Shannon, who mentions to Deadline how “Anime is an amazing medium for telling a truly creative story where Bruce Lee can be Bruce Lee.”

Together with Bruce Lee Entertainment, Shannon has also employed the expertise of Emily Yang and the content platform she co-founded, Shibuya. The collaborating parties have produced the project independently.

Emily has also lent her visual effects expertise to blockbuster movies such as Star Trek Beyond and Wonder Woman.

Shannon goes on to mention how she admires both Emily and Shibuya’s perspectives, complementing on the creativity, diligence and skill of Shibuya's pool of talent.

Emily adds how the House of Lee project is an “anime about the Lee family legacy” that also includes themes of spirituality and “the battle against your inner demons” which she immediately resonated with.

The official trailer has been released, featuring a depiction of Bruce Lee in classic anime-style illustrations, accompanied by thrilling background music that blends perfectly with his moves, sequences…and transformation into a dragon.

'Enter the Dragon' commemorates its 50th anniversary this year, and the trailer for House of Lee was shown at special screenings across the US earlier this month.

The House of Lee series premieres on Shibuya in 2024; watch the trailer below.
