The spark behind IsBurning was simple: a need. A longing for a space where people could feel truly free, musically, emotionally and physically.

Back then, there weren’t many queer spaces in Amsterdam where house and techno were at the centre, where people could come as they are and where the dance floor felt sacred and safe. IsBurning started as a place where music and community could come together in a way that felt pure, inclusive and powerful. By the community, for the community.

From its early days, almost 12 years ago, IsBurning has kept its line-ups unannounced. This is a vision that the team still strongly believes in today. Even though the line-up is always a well-guarded secret, they guarantee that it is filled with residents, familiar faces and different sounds for different tastes. The IsBurning team strives to create an equal-opportunity atmosphere because it believes everyone is a headliner.
