Love Hultén crowdfunds second book ‘Apparatrum’
Discover the artist’s creative processes with sketches, photos, commentary & exclusive BTS moments
Love Hultén is no stranger when it comes to unique musical apparatus, having created a name for himself in the realm of creative innovation, particularly through crafting synthesizers, video game consoles and sound sculptures. If you’re a fan of his videos showcasing his works of eclectic art, his new book will be a treat.
Celebrating a decade of his work, the Swedish artist puts together his second book ‘Apparatrum’ which includes his collection of ‘custom alientech’ and ‘craftporn’. The book dissects his influences, sources of inspiration and processes of his creations as an artisan woodworker and audiovisual specialist.
Expect to see detailed sketches from start to finish, impressive photos alongside a comprehensive commentary, step-by-step thoughts of his innovative methodologies, studio tours and many never seen before behind the scenes moments.
Hultén’s first book is titled ‘Works’ and includes his selected works from 2016 to 2022, whereas ‘Apparatrum’ covers his creative journey from a decade ago to today.
‘Apparatrum’ is published via Volume and is currently in its crowdfunding stage. This process has four tiers (rewards), with the very first being sold out.

The remaining rewards include a £50 (US$63.5) book, a £65 (US$82.6) signed book, and a £95 (US$120.8) special edition book which includes a gold circuit board against a green cloth-like material which subtly references Hultén’s creations.
There are only 250 copies of the special edition book and its estimated delivery time will be Spring 2025.

With that being said, his crowdfunding goal needs to reach £60.000 (US$76.313) before April 12, 2024, to see ‘Apparatrum’ come to life. As of today (March 19), 331 backers have pledged £26.498.21 (US$33.703) with 25 days remaining.
Last year we shared an interesting synthesizer by Love Hultén that was made via a cactus garden called ‘Desert Songs’. He has also been featured in our Christmas gifts listicle in 2019.
