Little Simz files US$2,2 million lawsuit against her former producer Inflo

Little Simz, real name Simbiatu Ajikawo, has reportedly been embroiled in a legal battle with her former producer Inflo after he failed to repay loans totalling more than $2 million.

Law360 reports that Ajikawo submitted a claim against the SAULT producer back in January, claiming that he borrowed US$2,2 million (£1,7 million) through several large sums.

She went on to claim that Inflo, real name Dean Cover, failed to repay such loans and “unlawfully” retained funds reserved for album recording costs.

According to Law360, the filing claims that Ajikawo paid Cover two separate sums of money in late 2022 – the first for £350,000 (roughly US$454,000) and the second for £275,000 (roughly US$356,000) – as part of a deal to produce her third studio album ‘GREY Area’.

Any money not spent on recording costs were supposed to be returned to Ajikawo, per the filing. A letter to her lawyers in October 2024 revealed that he spent just under £525,000 (roughly US$681,000) on recording costs, meaning more than £100,000 (roughly US$130,000) was set to be returned.

Ajikawo was also said to have loaned Cover £1 million (roughly US$1,300,000) on December 1, 2023, in order to organise a rare SAULT show at London superclub DRUMSHEDS, asking for it to be returned by December 4.

Cover failed to return the money by that time, the filing claims, which he defended by saying that he was still getting his deal “over the line”. It also claims that she sent a further two loans to Cover in the same month, one for £500,000 (roughly US$649,000), and another for £200,000 (roughly US$260,000).

According to the filing, Ajikawo was reportedly unable to pay her entire tax liability the following month, which then incurred additional charges and accrued interest.
