Leevisa chronicles cultural journeys into sonic landscapes with ‘Metro Blue’
A resonant debut LP that captures the vibrant fusion of Seoul's urban rhythms and Toronto's newfound freedom
'Metro Blue' is a raw, sonic diary reflecting Leevisa’s journey of breaking cultural barriers and embracing new freedoms as she leaves Seoul to settle in Toronto.
Sound-wise, Leevisa's musical direction diverges from club-centric tracks, blending the sentimental value of her past with the newfound freedoms she experiences living in Canada.
In an Instagram post, she describes the release as one that features “8 electronic ballads influenced by the music I grew up listening to”.
‘Metro Blue’ captures the pulse of daily life through a nomad’s eyes, transforming the mundane into something extraordinary. The album takes listeners on a ride through Seoul Metro's Line 4, with sunlight streaming over Dongjak Bridge, into a bustling ‘Printshop’ where Leevisa might whip up an ‘Omelette’ and attempt to craft a UK garage track.
First single ‘Printshop’ leans more towards a shoegaze vibe with haunting reverbed vocals layered one upon another and a sole guitar melody accompanied by minimalistic percussions.

Her second drop, ‘Keystone’, continues to showcase her distinct layered vocals and reverb magic that makes the track sound atmospheric. Kicking off on a more downtempo nature, the beat picks up around the one minute mark as light, rapid percussions and a punchy bassline enter.
Our pick of a standout track would be ‘Seoul Metro Blue’ which starts off with chiming synths that set the foundation of the composition, partnered with melodious vocalisation. This is soon followed by an ethereal clash of industrial-sounding drums and bursts of polyphonic synths.
