Late night underground music venue Fly in Hong Kong to close
The announcement was made on Facebook today
To the dismay of many, one of Hong Kong’s staple underground music mainstays announced today via Facebook that it would be closing at the end of the month.
The run through Christmas and New Year’s will be the last for Fly, which has been operating on Ice Street for the last 7 years.
Buzz Concepts, the group managing Fly as well as other venues in Hong Kong like Lily & Bloom and several other PR and marketing initiatives, did add that 2018 will bring with it a new venture and concept for the team.
The Lan Kwai Fong club has long been one of Hong Kong’s few htospots that ventured deeper down the rabbit hole by exploring underground music’s many subgenres like tech house, electro, mashup, breaks, dubstep, drum ‘n’ bass, UK garage, old school hip-hop and everything in between.
The club has hosted artists like DJ Marky & Stamina MC, DJ EZ, Skream, Benga, Joris Voorn, Skratch Bastid, Grandtheft and many, many more over the years.
