'Kogarashi Tales' is inspired by Japanese philosophy
9ToEarth release handmade kimonos and an industrial & dark EP
Inspired by an exploratory and eye-opening trip to Japan, Warsaw-based duo 9ToEarth released their debut EP ‘Kogarashi Tales’ as a collection of personal, introverted and inspirational musical works that lean on the edge of dark dance and emotive electro. The seven track EP has a recurring theme of a haunting, raw, industrial sound spectrum, laced with an evident contrast of new and old wave sensibilities.
The duo consist of Chilean artist Nicolas Estany who goes by the artist alias Visonia and singer-songwriter Kika Stepa. When breaking down the duo’s fascination with Japanese culture, we can firstly turn to the meaning of the word ‘Kogarashi’, which has no literal English translation, but like many other Japanese words, it’s a philosophical one related to nature — ‘leaf wilting wind’ or a cold wintry wind, and what is a periodic marker for the true start of winter. The EP has been out for just under two weeks now, nowhere near the mark of the start of winter, anywhere, but following in suit of other appealing aspects of far philosophy, ‘Kogarashi Tales’ is certainly one that speaks of contrast.
Excited to now perform their successful new release as soon as possible, the duo have also made their own custom hand painted kimonos which we stumbled upon on their Facebook page.
9ToEarth released their debut EP 'Kogarashi Tales' on 26 June 2020 via Artificial Intelligence from Spain. Have a listen to it below.
