Jogja Lokal: We're headed to the City of Culture for an auditory exploration of music
The second event in our Lokal series
Round two: we head to Yogyakarta — or Jogja for short — for an auditory exploration of the City of Culture. Known for its rich traditional arts and cultural heritage, which led to an entire generation of youths getting an early education in the art of music, and the bubbling electronic music culture in Jogja is a reflection of that with lokal influences colliding with anything from house, techno, nu-disco, drum ’n’ bass and jungle all the way through to gabber.
Without many international acts passing through the city, the underground music community has come to depend on each other, and something special was born. Something Lokal.
Join us on Thursday night as we pivot the spotlight onto Jogja and an exciting roster of talent for a final soirée before observing a month of Ramadan — expect an evening of discovery and sonic surprises delivered with an Indonesian flavour.
