Joey G debuts on local KL imprint Ohrwurm Recordings
The Malaysian label marks its fifth release
Making Malaysia his home for over twenty years, London native Joey Ghazlan aka Joey G is a DJ, producer, host and music production instructor at Creative Agency Asia, who has become a household name in Kuala Lumpur’s music scene.
Teaming up with local promoter-turned-label Ohrwurm Recordings, Joey G recently dropped a club-friendly three-track EP that traverses the realms of deep house, touching on minimal sensibilities from layering to musicality.
The EP starts off with ‘Deep Sensual’ as a minimal groove affair that takes lead from a simple melodic synth line; Joey follows this up with ‘Into The Groove’ which has a slightly pick up on the tempo and with a more subtle play on the instruments. ‘Reciting’ closes the EP with a 3am-style pick me up groover that you’re sure to hear across the local clubs as Kuala Lumpur’s scene opens back up.
Joey's previous outputs have landed him releases with labels like Love International, Femme Culture, and Turn It Up Recordings.
