Jambutek Recordings debuts label showcase at Dots Bay House on March 22
The pioneering collective bring their nuanced style of energetic rhythms to Sri Lanka’s south coast

On March 22, 2025, Dots Bay House and Mixmag Asia come together once again for a night dedicated to Sri Lanka’s underground electronic scene, featuring Jambutek Recordings.
Founded in 2014 by Asvajit, Jambutek has been instrumental in shaping the country’s electronic music culture.
More than just a label, it functions as an artist collective, collaborating with musicians, illustrators, filmmakers, and designers to create unique releases with hand-drawn artwork, exclusive merchandise, and immersive events.
“Despite being (as far as we know) the first dedicated label for underground electronic music in Sri Lanka, Jambutek occupies a stylistically niche space in the local music scene,” Asvajit shares with Mixmag Asia.
“While over the years we have provided a platform for like-minded musicians through our releases, gigs, workshops and artists’ residencies—building a small but dedicated community of dancers and musicians in the process—another important aspect of our mission is also to provide an alternative take on music and nightlife in the face of an increasingly homogenous and commercialised dance music scene,” he adds.
The label also curates JAMBUCASTS, a mix series that spotlights its roster alongside international artists, reinforcing its deep ties to the global electronic music network.

Asvajit himself will be leading the night—known for creating productions that blend groove-heavy rhythms with intricate sound design, earning him slots at Berlin’s Kater Blau, Sisyphos, and Fusion Festival.
Joining him is Nigel Perera, whose deep, textural sound fuses atmospheric layers with pulsating, hypnotic beats, while Sunara brings energetic rhythms to the mix.
Sweetie, the freshest face among them, offers a unique blend of minimal grooves and intricate percussion— he also recently played a b2b set with UK-based Casey Spillman earlier this month at Dots.

Dots Bay House in Hiriketiya Bay is an intimate yet versatile venue, hosting everything from techno sets to acoustic sessions—a prime spot for a night representing the country’s very own scene.
“This will be the first time Jambutek has done a label showcase on the south coast, and we’re looking forward to it. Dots has built a solid reputation for hosting underground music, attracting an audience that is receptive to diverse, nuanced sounds,” Asvajit explains.
