After going on sale, the collections attracted buyers from all over the world, fetching a total of $4.25 million – more than the entire budget for his acclaimed psychological thriller film, Inland Empire.

Items netting the largest sums included screenplays, a collection of which (featuring scripts from an unmade film named Ronnie Rocket), landing a $195,000 price tag.

Elsewhere, Lynch’s director’s chair raked in some $91,000, while a red curtain and black and white zig-zag rug in the style of Twin Peaks’ Black Lodge fetched $32,500.

“This collection includes artefacts from all aspects of Lynch’s personal creative life,” reads the collection’s description.
