In pictures: capturing the neon-lit carnival of EDC Thailand
The technicolour takeover of Phuket came with drones, daisy wheels & four stages of massive global names
Thailand is having a bit of a resurgence when it comes to festivals, it seems.
Both locally grown and international heavy weights are making the Big Mango and beyond their home, and Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) are no different.
The LA born brand’s second foray in Thailand was one to behold.
Everything from the four bold stages, each with their own identity, sound and design, to the decor at all angles, all the way to the small details scattered across this playground.
Peep the giant carnival wheels EDC has become known for, to the circus performers on stilts, to the fire-breathing statues, and everything else you’d come to expect from a festival of this scale.
Something that was unavoidable was the wash of colour from every angle. Neon lights and lasers, to the flock of drones littering the sky (even wishing Tiësto a happy birthday), and a dedicated “pixel forest” washed in 8-bit lights and, (somehow not surprisingly), Mario arcade games.

Diversity on the line-up was a welcome sight to see. Alongside EDC staples such as Deadmau5, Afrojack and Fisher, we saw artists in very different worlds, such as Salute, Partiboi69 and Goldie. It felt like a festival where everyone has their place.
This diversity luckily included a healthy amount of Asian representation, which is always a very welcome addition when these western brands make the move to the east, and is something we pray is a continuous trend.
Take a look through a couple hand-selected photos from the weekend madness, and look out for the followup, coming in December of this year.
