​Hiatus Kaiyote robbed of “thousands of dollars” worth of music equipment in Australia

Hiatus Kaiyote have made an urgent call for information about the whereabouts of their music equipment after being robbed of “tens of thousands of dollars” worth of gear.

The Melbourne-hailing band posted a statement on Instagram yesterday, March 11, explaining that they were robbed in Preston, Victoria, over the weekend.

“Our space was broken into and tens of thousands of dollars of music equipment was stolen,” they wrote. “Absolutely gutted right now.”

The group made a plea to “keep your eyes out, especially if you are in Melbourne and surrounding areas/states,” asking anyone with information to get in contact.

They listed the pieces of stolen equipment, which includes a six-string Ernie Ball Bongo bass guitar covered in stickers, and a Roland SP 404 sampler “loaded with Hiatus samples”.

Other stolen gear includes a set of studio monitors, two mixers, four keyboards, a Jackson guitar, a synth, compressors, a reverberator, a delay machine, and more.

“If anyone has any leads, please contact us,” they wrote. “Please don’t flood our inbox right unless you have information on the whereabouts of these items.”

Artists including DJ Spinna, Questlove, Bradley Zero, Machinedrum, Willow Smith, and Flying Lotus all pledged their support for the band in the comments. “Oh nooo, this was a serious raid. So sorry guys,” Bradley Zero wrote.

Last night, the group shared the news that they will head on a tour across North America this summer despite “having a bunch of our shit stolen”. They announced: “WE WILL REBUILD. That’s right, we are going back on tour through the USA, and no amount of thieving c*nts can stop us!”
