HEDD Audio marks 10 years with a golden take on its classic studio monitors
Limited to 100 pairs, the TYPE 05 A-CORE EDITION X combines HEDD’s AMT tweeter with an 18k gold finish (plus an extra surprise for one lucky buyer)
HEDD Audio celebrates its tenth anniversary with a limited run of the TYPE 05 A-CORE EDITION X; only 100 pairs are up for grabs.
Built on the foundation of the TYPE 05 A-CORE monitor, this version introduces refined materials and a distinctive gold aesthetic.
The release also honours founder Klaus Heinz’s forty years in loudspeaker design. “EDITION X embodies the values that have guided HEDD Audio since its inception: quality, accuracy, and longevity,” the company states.
Founded in 2015 in Berlin by physicist and engineer Klaus Heinz and his son, musicologist Dr. Frederik Knop, HEDD Audio merges technical precision with musical insight.
Heinz’s work builds on the Air Motion Transformer (AMT), a breakthrough in transducer design a technology invented in the 1970s by Oskar Heil. Over decades, Heinz refined the AMT design, making it smaller, more reliable, and ideal for professional studio use.
This evolution laid the foundation for HEDD’s signature sound and engineering philosophy.

Each TYPE 05 A-CORE EDITION X monitor is meticulously hand-built in Berlin and engraved with an individual serial number. Its design features an 18k gold-plated Italian-made backplate, screws, and tweeter grille, paired with a sleek black satin housing.
The use of gold components provides long-term durability and corrosion resistance, while giving the product that (literal) golden glow.

At the core of the sound is HEDD’s AMT tweeter, known for its fast transient response and natural high-frequency reproduction. It’s paired with a 5-inch honeycomb woofer, which delivers tight, controlled low-end performance and detailed mids. Together, they reproduce mixes with accuracy suitable for critical listening, mixing, and production work.
To mark the occasion, HEDD has included a special surprise: one gold-plated, engraved 40-year warranty card hidden inside a single pair among the hundred as symbolic gesture that pays tribute to Heinz’s four decades of innovation and dedication.
